The land take for projects in the public interest must be justifiable and proportionate. Our experience ensures a compelling case, diligent enquiry and robust documentation for any scale of development whether that be under Enabling Acts, Compulsory Purchase Order or Development Consent Order.

Development Consent Order approved
Plans to upgrade the A66 route between Penrith and Scotch Corner were today (7 March 2024) given the go-ahead by the Secretary of State for Transport. The A66 Northern Trans-Pennine project, which is a key part of the government’s £24 billion investment into roads, will transform journeys along the A66 in the North of England. A DfT spokesperson said: “This Government backs drivers which is why we’re investing over £24bn into our roads to reduce congestion, create jobs and grow the economy. “We also have our long-term Plan for Drivers to slam the brakes on anti-car measures and keep the country moving.”
Turning the tide in scaling renewables
The renewable energy industry has experienced impressive growth over the past decade. In 2022, renewable energy deployments grew by double digits worldwide. However, only 14 percent of all energy use currently comes from renewable sources. Renewable energy is estimated to make up 77% of the world's primary energy supply by 2050. To achieve this target, the deployment of renewable energy must triple from 2022 levels by 2030, which amounts to an annual addition of 1,200 gigawatts.

DCO decision delayed
On Wednesday 8 November 2023, the Secretary of State for Transport extended the Development Consent Order decision for the A66 Northern Trans-Pennine project. The deadline for a decision to be made has been extended to 7 March 2024.We remain confident in our proposals and we stand ready to deliver these improvements, subject to receiving a positive decision on the DCO and authorisation to proceed to construction.

It’s official – “rest of HS2” is cancelled. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has confirmed the rest of the HS2 high-speed rail line outside of the London to Birmingham route already under construction is being cancelled. The industry has been braced for bad news on the UK’s biggest infrastructure project following months of speculation over cost increases.
